Mandarine Napoléon is a cognac-based liqueur into which is mixed the irresistible flavour of fresh mandarin oranges along with a special selection of botanicals. The final result is a vibrant and flavourful blend that has been winning over consumers since it was first released in 1892. This blend is a direct descendant of a liqueur enjoyed by Napoleon himself, which is, of course, where it draws its name from. Available in many sizes and two different expressions, this classic spirit takes aged cognac and adds a bold blend of spices to create a drink that is fit for an emperor.
Mandarine Napoléon first appeared on the market in 1892. Now a much-lover liqueur, it is based on the recipe for a drink that was served to Napoléon Bonaparte himself. The original recipe was crafted by Napoléon’s physician, Antoine-Francois de Fourcroy. In this recipe, mandarin oranges were macerated in alcohol before being blended with cognac.
The recipe disappeared for a while and with it the spirit that the men had created. Louis Schmidt rediscovered the recipe while reading Fourcroy’s diary. This was the inspiration he needed to create his own liqueur based on the recipe that he had discovered. The recipe may remain a secret but the delicious taste is out there for everyone to try.
Since its release, Mandarine Napoléon has slowly conquered the world. Now sold in more than 130 countries, this award-winning brand has been keeping the flavours that Napeléon loved alive for new generations. De Kuyper bought Mandarine Napoléon in September 2009, ensuring that the brand will continue to grow and be discovered by new generations.
The prize-winning Mandarine Napoléon recipe is available in two delicious expressions, both of which are made with all-natural ingredients.
The original liqueur, named Mandarine Napoléon, is available in 3, 35, 50, 70, and 100 cl bottles. This cognac-based liqueur is perfect on its own, mixed into cocktails, or in culinary preparations.
