Marques de Borba Old Vines 2016 (Aragonêz, Alicante Bouschet and Syrah)

  • View: Marques de Borba Old Vines 2016 has an intense garnet colour.
  • Nose: Intense bouquet, charged with the fruity aromas of berries, cassis, and preserves, and a hint of spice.
  • Mouth: Well-balanced on the mouth with smooth tannins. Complex and full of volume, with fruity flavours and the woody spices of the oak. The finish is medium-long, velvety, and pleasant.

VINEYARD: João Portugal Ramos. The Alentejo region in Portugal is home to the estate of João Portugal Ramos, dedicated winemaker with years of experience in the field. With a sustainable approach to the business, the vineyards are maintained using biological agriculture methods. Soils rich in limestone and Schist make for elegant, balanced wines, with good acidity and intensity.

GRAPES: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Castelão, and Syrah.

AGEING: Twelve months in American and French oak barrels prior to bottling.

PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested manually, destemmed, and sorted for the best quality. The selected bunch is then crushed, and later transferred to large marble containers, where they are foot trodden for four to five days. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats, and finally the wine is left to mature in oak barrels before bottling.

PAIRING: Perfect for strong meals, such as beef, veal, poultry, and pasta.

ALCOHOL: 14.5%
