Upon release, the Sassicaia 2000 was an unusually tannic and intensely mineral evocation of the wine, but more than of a decade of maturity has served to mellow the wine, privileging its ripe, juicy red and black fruits, its fine-grained and silky tannins, and its creamy mouth-feel. IWM believes the best way to enjoy Sassicaia is with some age; an evolved bottling of Sassicaia allows for tertiary development and showcases this legendary Super Tuscan's nuances of green pepper, spice, dark fruit, and is accompanied by aging notes of tobacco, cedar, and earth.

TASTING NOTES OF Sassicaia 2000:
- View: Bright ruby red.
- Nose: aromas of ripe red cherry, dark plum and kirsch, attractive wood smoke, eucalyptus and laurel.
- Mouth: silky and quite lush, considerable sweetness and creaminess, flavors of cassis, blackberry and black jelly ripe plum. Final fine-grained tannins and lingering notes of minerals, herbs, dried flowers and smoke.
APPELLATION: Bolgheri Sassicaia.
GRAPES: Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
