1. Agustí Torelló

Located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, one of the most important enclaves of cava and wine worldwide, Agustí Torelló has wines from the Penedès region. 3. Bodegas Freixenet

It is one of the most traditional cellars around the world. Its history rooted in the Penedès marks a before and after in the wine world of all time. Visitors enjoy a great experience when visiting Freixenet because one discovers how the cava is made, in addition to tasting it. A memorable visit.

4. Bodegas Pinord

1) Romagna

Being surrounded by impressive woods, they stand out for their hospitality for about two decades now: Giovanni and Cristina welcome travelers with breakfast, homemade cakes, pies and jams made from organic fruit of their own orchard. Furthermore, their subtly sweet licors, Parma sausages, zucchini filled pasta, amaretti cookies among others. The hosts are always ready to suggest hidden, unknown places to have dinner. During mushroom season, Giovanni offers field trips to visitors from around the world.

2) Agriturismo Corte d’Aibo, Emilia-Romagna

Autumn in Emilia-Romagna means wine, truffles, mushroomes, and chestnuts. The Agroturismo Corte d’Aibo is an organic farm and vineyard, located 25 kilometers west of Bologna, in the hills of the Apennines. The vineyard produces 6 red wines and 6 white wines, made from grapes of its own backyard. The recommendation is to take a bottle of Pignoletto with lunch and a tour of the winery. The menu includes specialties like tagliatelle with ragout and risotto with truffles and Parmigiano-Reggiano such as local dishes.

3) Masseria Il Frantoio, Puglia

Before lunch and dinner, Armando Balestrazzi gives a tour around Masseria Il Frantoio, close to Ostuni. They own 4.000 olive trees – many of them planted by the ancient Romans -, a citrus orchard from the 17th century, and a Moorish style garden. Armando and his wife Rosalba bought this 500-year-old property 15 years ago and turned it into a restaurant and a hotel with 19 rooms. Rosalba takes care of the cooking, and her 8 courses lunch paired ip with wines from Puglia and different olive oils is a real challenge. One of her typical meals could consist of: pizzelle (discs of fried pasta similar to Indian puris) with fresh tomato sauce, zucchini and shrimp fritters, green beans, baked goat cheese with saffron and pear jam, homemade pasta laganelle with zucchini and carrots, roast lamb with potatoes, garden salad with fresh almonds and rose petals, and lemon pie.

4) Le Campestre, Campania

After living in Belgium for decades, the Lombardi family returned to Italy to build up organic Agroturism. Le Campestre is a farm with rooms and a restaurant, a property located in the region of Campania Alto Casertano, that is famous for its olive oil, the buffalo, goat chees and its rustic breads. Meals are served on a terrace overlooking the nearby valley and mountainsides. The guests stay in simple rooms and participate in the daily tasks of the farm, such as the olive harvest. They also offer vooking classes.

5) Bio Agriturismo Valle Scannese, Abruzzo

Gregorio Rotolo is famous for his cheese: round blocks of pecorino, flat ashlers of aromatic stracchino and tender ricotta, each of them with a distinctive green and silver label. Gregorio and his family hava a biodynamic farm, more that 1.500 sheep and agroturism. The location is excellent, on the edge of the Abruzzo National Park, it is run by the family itself and has 17 cozy and comfortable rooms, and the food is wonderful.

Priorat: know its wines and cellars


The viticulture of the DOC Priorat, in Catalonia, has a long tradition. No wonder, then, that there is a lot of cellars and wine routes to explore.

The wines from this region are produced in an area of ??20,000 ha, of which only 1,600 have been planted with vines, according to the DOC of this region itself. Being the terrain somewhat difficult, it makes the production of wine to be expensive, but abundant in quantity and quality, since they are recognized not only in Spain but throughout the world.

While it should be noted that this region is also home to the DO Montsant, which is younger and has 2,006 hectares of vineyards within a total area of ??35,676 ha.

In the Priorat designation route we highlight some cellars such as Celler Sabaté, with wines such as Mas Plantadeta (red oak), Mas Plantadeta Roure (white oak) and Mas d’en Bernat (young red). This family cellar produces wines since 1910, now ageing in French and Hungarian oak.

While in Saó del Coster you can find the varieties S (young red), Pim pam poom (young red) and Terram (red crianza). A wine cellar, which unlike the previous one, was founded in 2004 by a group of friends in order to bring modernity and dynamism to this sector in the region.

The Balagué y Cabré cellar offers red crianza wines such as La Guinardera and Ruella. It offers tradition and innovation, with a new renovated cellar that has a tasting room overlooking the vineyards and the environment.

The Celler Castellet, in Porrera, is a feast for the senses. It offers Empit Selecció, Empit and Ferral, all crianza reds. It is also a young cellar, being a family company founded in 2005.

Fall is the perfect season to discover the vineyards landscape. The colour of forests and leaves is changing, and green turns into different shades of brown and maroon. Therefore, it is time to make wine tourism and learn about some of the most prized routes on the national scene. Do you want to come with us?

Lleida, Costers del Segre

Costers del Segre is a Designation of Origin distributed in 7 different subzones, in which we find a large part of its vineyards in the province of Lleida. On this route we can reach the city of Lleida and see the church of the Seu Vella (“Old Cathedral”), besides the popular main street. In terms of cellars, we will see Vinya Els Vilars, which has an output of only 15,000 litres per year, while Raimat is truly known for its history.

Murcia, Jumilla route

The Jumilla wine appellation of origin has a great extension of vineyards in Murcia worth visiting. In this case there are several routes, many of which are related to gastronomy and also music, as sometimes different concerts and performances are organized in the associated cellars.

Extremadura, Ribera del Guadiana

There are some lesser-known areas. This is the case of Extremadura, which also has good and varied wines. On the route, you can see classic cellars along with newer ones, and support for modernization of viticulture and oenology, but they are keeping a very defined and traditional style of doing things.

Cádiz, Marco de Jerez

Cuisine is a reference in Cádiz. Also unique in its wines, the region offers its nice coast and you can also explore the cellars to taste the famous brandy of Jerez.

If you’re a wine lover or you’re entering this world, you must know that the cellars of the New World, such as Australia and New Zealand, are in vogue. Therefore we give you some info on regions, areas and wine tours that you can not miss in the Antipodes.


The famous Marlborough region is mostly known for its production of Sauvignon Blanc. It’s located in the north-eastern area of the South Island of New Zealand, noted for its stony ground. You can visit over 40 wineries in Marlborough, with established wine routes to explore the cellars and taste the wines thanks to its tastings.

This region is named after a town located in the Kimberley area in Western Australia, 2,200 kilometres north of Perth. Hunter Valley

The Hunter Valley is one of the best-known Australian regions because of its wineries. Here are some of the oldest wine families in the country, and it’s especially noted for the production of dry white wine. Wineries such as Brokenwood won the Best Red Wine of the World in 2001. The Scarborough cellar is also strongly known, since its establishment in this wine area in the 60s. Their quintessential wine is the Chardonnay, the most popular white in Australia. We also stop at Audrey Wilkinson, a winery with a 150-year history. Near the town of Pokolbin, it offers free tastings, tours of the winery, and the entrance to a small museum of winemaking.

Ribera del Duero’s secret

 TAGS:Ribera del Duero wines usually do not disappoint and you also can find some very good, or excellent, affordable to almost all budgets. But if you want to give yourself a treat you can also find here some of the most expensive wines of Spain.

This wine region is preferred among others by the younger generation that, after some years of absence returns to imbibe of wine culture… and of course to drink wine. Beer and spirits go getting aside. Wine rules.

We enjoy wines with body, round character. We like red wines with personality and strength. The red wines from Ribera del Duero give the profile and therefore they are among the favorites of many of us. And I include myself, because I love them.

But in this region there are other names with great power. Rueda, for all those white wines from Verdejo Kingdom; Toro, with fabulous red wine authors; and Cigales, famous for the pink, but with some truly spectacular reds, like Caesar Príncipe, which I love and highly recommend, or Cigales Aleno Foster 1999, also very good.

Another incentive is the possibility of visiting the wineries and attending a tasting guided by experts and connoisseurs throughout the process. These professionals will give us details about the vintage, the aging and for example the reason for the choice of this type of wood for the barrels.

In some cases you may also spend the night in the cellar, as many of them have adapted their facilities to the wine tourism fashion and have built a small hotel or some other kind of accommodation that can be enjoyed close to the original structure.

This way you can enjoy an entire weekend surrounded very close by your favorite stocks and knowing the history of the wine you like most. In addition, generally, the wineries that offer the opportunity to spend an entire weekend of wine tourism, complete their program with a dinner or lunch where the most traditional or the avant-garde food pairing are present, making a wine tourism short trip into 360 experience which will get us us into the juiciest side of the wine world.

Another option is to go to visit the winery where some wine we still don?t know is produced. Thus we have an added incentive, the surprise element, which enriches the experience by allowing us to remember when was the first time we tried it, where were we then and who with. The perfect excuse to join two passions: wine and travel.
