In our series of the most relevant cocktails, today it is the turn of Sex on the Beach, which has already become a refreshing classic that evokes the summer. It was born in Miami in the 80s and gradually has spread to different countries. It’s one of the cocktails with more variations, though is based on vodka, but we can add different flavours of juices and other spirits.
Created as a result of the invention of a refreshing long drink, sweet and with lots of fruits, its name was originated on the fact of many young people visiting Miami actually seeking for sex on the beach in summer.
- Peach schnapps
- Orange juice
- Cranberry juice
While these ingredients are the official as mentioned, some variations change orange juice for pineapple juice, add coconut rum instead of vodka, or grenadine instead of cranberry juice.
There are several variations of this cocktail without alcohol, called ?safe sex on the beach?, rather than Sex on the Beach, as the traditional. And another with alcohol named ?oral sex on the beach?, with blue curacao; ?creamy sex on the beach?, which incorporates coconut rum and pineapple juice; and ?Greek sex on the beach?, with rum and tequila. There are variations for all tastes.
To create the cocktail Sex on the Beach, add vodka, orange or pineapple juice and peach schnapps in a shaker. Then crush some ice and put it in a tall, wide glass or cup. Serve the mixture obtained in the glass and garnish it with a slice of orange or pineapple. The cocktail must be very cold, as it is an ideal cocktail for hot summer nights.
