A really taste meat recipe: Red Wine Braised Beef - Drinks&Co

Today, we recommend a dish that needs to be cooked slowly, but which rewards with its intense flavour and tenderness: red wine braised beef. A tasty and robust course, perfect to be accompanied by roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, mushrooms or polenta. Here is the recipe.

  • 600 g beef
  • 300 ml red wine
  • 300 ml meat stock
  • 1 onion
  • 100 g peas
  • 1 carrot
  • Flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • EVO oil
  • Bay leaves
  • Cloves

Chop the onion and carrot. Also cut the meat into cubes. Flour the pieces of meat, then brown them in a saucepan (over high heat) with oil, then add the chopped onion, bay leaves, cloves and pepper. When the meat has changed colour, add the red wine. Let the wine evaporate.

Add a generous amount of meat stock, the carrot and the peas. Cover the pan with a lid, and leave to cook for at least one and a half hours. Stir from time to time and add stock if necessary. At the end of the cooking time, add salt to taste. You can also reduce the sauce a little by continuing to cook the meat without the lid.
