The wines of Valencian Community have a special charm and are possible thanks to the strength of the Mediterranean land resulting in noble wines of long tradition. So, the presence of wine in this community comes from ancient times, with the advent of the Romans and the Arab conquest.
Currently its appellations of origin bring the whole essence of the region and support the elaboration and export to be increasingly known. Muscat is one of the main varieties used in the production of red or rosé wines, and leads in particular to a liqueur wine, the Mistela de Moscatel. This special wine offers a unique transparent and yellow color, and has sweet, natural and aromatic herbs flavors.
The red wines of the DO Valencia are made from varieties such as Monastrell, Tempranillo and Tintorera, and have strong and intense aromas of fruits and flowers. The palate really is fleshy and round. We can pair them with tasty meats and, why not, with a paella by the sea.
Other DO of this community are the DOP Alicante, offering Muscat, red, rosé and sparkling wines. The red is the most prominent, from the Monastrell grape variety, which gives intense color and fruit aromas. The sparkling wines bring a great freshness and are optimal to drink with all kinds of dishes.
For its part, the DO Utiel-Requena presents the native red variety Bobal, among others more known. Their superior quality wines are white, rosé or red, and have an alcohol content of over 11º. They are excellent by their aromas of berries and some wood and spice aftertaste reminiscent of the land where they are produced.
