The one from your aunt, the one from your neighbour, the from your friend who had too many… Does your house feel like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory these days? If you don’t know what to do with all the Easter eggs you’ve received (and those you will receive), here’s an idea to repurpose them: prepare an excellent homemade chocolate liqueur!

And because we know that even with chocolate it’s hard to find common ground, we’re offering you three different delicious variations.

Dark Chocolate Liqueur

Ingredients:

  • 150 g dark chocolate
  • 200 g sugar
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 200 ml vodka
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 vanilla pod or vanilla extract

Preparation:

  1. Heat the milk, sugar and vanilla pod (or vanilla extract) in a small saucepan, stirring continuously until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add the chocolate and cocoa powder and stir quickly. Turn off the heat.
  3. When the cream has cooled down, remove the vanilla pod and add the vodka. Stir well to mix all the ingredients.
  4. Pour into sterilised bottles. Allow to stand for a few days before consuming the liqueur. Store it in the fridge.

Variations:

  • If you prefer, you can replace the vanilla with orange peel, which you will filter out during the bottling phase.
  • If you want a really creamy consistency, you can use half a dose of whole milk and half a dose of liquid cream.

Milk Chocolate Liqueur

  • 250 g of fresh liquid cream
  • 250 g of milk chocolate

  1. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, then add the cream and sugar. Boil for at least 15-20 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved well.
  2. Transfer to a bowl and leave to cool.
  3. When the cream is cold, add the vodka and mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into sterilised bottles. Let it sit for a few days before consuming the liqueur. Store it in the fridge.

White Chocolate Liqueur

Ingredients:

  • 200 g white chocolate
  • 400 ml whole milk
  • 200 ml fresh liquid cream
  • 150 g sugar
  • 200 ml vodka

Preparation:

  1. Heat the cream, milk and sugar in a small saucepan.
  2. When the sugar has dissolved completely, add the chocolate. Remember to stir continuously so that the chocolate doesn’t burn!
  3. Once all the ingredients have melted, remove from the heat and leave to cool.
  4. When the cream has cooled down, add the vodka and stir.
  5. Pour into sterilised bottles. Let it sit for a few days before consuming the liqueur. Store it in the fridge.

We hope these ideas will help you make the most out of all your Easter eggs.
