Whenever brands support social movements, the first thing we should always ask ourselves is whether the brands are showing a genuine interest in social change or whether they are just exploiting the moment. We present 3 alcohol brands that show true support to the LGBTQ+ community. Fancy some gay drinks? 😉
Absolut Vodka – Gay since 1979
Since 1979 Absolut has been setting an example for more tolerance, diversity and equality and supports the international gay community through various social projects. With the Absolut Colors, launched in 2015, the Swedish vodka brand made a strong statement and has become the gayest brand par excellence.
Absolut encourages its consumers to show their diversity with the bottle step: “Be proud of who you are and let your true colours shine.”
The social commitment of Gay Vodka
Another example of social commitment is “Gay Vodka”, a brand that was launched in Germany in 2018. With every bottle sold, the brand donates a part to queer communities to support various social projects against segregation and discrimination. This gay drink is distilled five times from French wheat and fresh spring water and convinces with a mild taste and an excellent value for money.
Gay Beer – The gayest beer ever
The concept is simple: a craft beer owned by a same-sex couple and marketed by the gay community. Made in New York, this LGBTQ+ drink is brewed with an exquisite blend of Viennese malt and Mandarina Bavaria hops and is a golden lager with notes of honey and crunchy citrus fruits that will leave you feeling refreshed.
The beer market has the reputation of being represented mainly by male men. With the Gay Beer, the brand wanted to show that other “consumer types” also appreciate good beer and thus change many people’s perception of gays.
