Pétalos del Bierzo 2018 (Mencía)
- View: intense cherry red.
- Nose: strawberry, berries (blackberries, blueberries), black pepper and spices.
- Mouth: vibrant, with the presence of acid strawberry flavors. Round and juicy. An easy to drink, pleasant and gastronomic wine.
NAME OF ORIGIN: Bierzo
VINEYARD: Located in 5 municipalities of Corullón, Valtuille, Villadecanes, Parandones and Villafranca del Bierzo. The terrain is characterized by very steep slopes and hills between 450 and 1000 meters, shaped by a continental climate with a great Atlantic influence. The age of the vineyard is 40 years to 90 years.
GRAPES: Mencía and other varieties.
AGING: aging in French oak barrels.
ELABORATION: partial stripping and crushing, alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats and open stainless steel tanks. Maceration for 25 days. Malolactic fermentation for 3 months in wooden vats and closed stainless steel tanks. Clarified and filtered before bottling.
WINE PAIRING: starters, Manchego cheese, red and white meats. In general, good harmony with Mediterranean cuisine.

Ricardo Perez Palacios is one of the great architects of a quiet revolution is taking place in the, so far, Bierzo region quite stagnant.
