Estrella Damm was born in Barcelona in 1876. The original recipe for this 100% natural beer has remained unchanged ever since, using only barley malt, rice, and hops - no additives or preservatives. In 2008, Estrella Damm received the gourmet touch of Ferran Adrià, one of the best chefs in the world.
The brewmasters at Damm paired with Chef Adrià and the sommeliers at El Bulli with the intention of creating a special brew that could pair with meals. In order to achieve this, the beer needed a more nuanced flavour and more contrast than a standard beer. The result is Damm Inedit, a beer that is completely different. Made using wheat and malted barley, the end result lies somewhere between a Belgian white beer and a Pilsner-style malted barley beer.
The wheat gives body, softness, and a cloudy aspect to the beer in the glass. Hops add fresh, grassy bitterness. Liquorice gives sweetness and aroma. Coriander brings complexity and a touch of spice. The orange peel takes centre stage, bringing bright complexity to the final flavour. Even complicated dishes pair well with this fine and versatile beer. Damm Inedit was made for food. It can pair with sour, sweet, bitter, salty, spicy, and buttery dishes. Its versatile nature is truly noteworthy.
