The vineyards of Beaujolais is a wine region in France that extends from southern Burgundy to the north of Lyon. It covers the northern part of the French Rhone department (Rhone-Alpes) and part of the south of the department of Saône-et-Loire.

Beaujolais is quite large, with over 20,234 hectares of vines planted in a strip of land 11 to 14 km wide. The historic capital of the province is Beaujeu.

The typical vine is Gamay Beaujolais, but it would be more precise about the Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc, to distinguish it from gamay tintorera which differs from the latter. It covers nearly 98% of all plantations. It has a thin skin and little tannic. The grapes Gamay Beaujolais gives intense bluish red color with low acidity, moderate tannins and a light to medium body.
