Penfolds Grange Bin 95 2008

The 2008 vintage of Penfolds grange was sourced from outstanding vineyards across South Australia. The fruit was fermented in the cellars at Nuriootpa, completing fermentation and 19 months maturation in new American oak hogsheads.

Penfolds Grange will develop further complexity and integration of flavours for 20 years or more under correct cellaring conditions. For optimum enjoyment, this wine should be carefully double-decanted prior to being served.

Opaque red. Aromas of cherry, licorice. A taste of nothing in particular just wine.
A red that showed his face with food.
I went with work colleagues to Penfolds Wines and we tried it  there.

Heritage Icon, official title of South Australia, which was awarded the Grange. A deep dark garnet in Glas.Der fragrance - typical Grange - with dense, dark Barossa-berry fruit, soft hints of honey, nutmeg, smoked herb ham and peaty notes, which unfold to seductive, rauchigerdigen aromas of volcanic rock and forest floor on. Palate: opulent, complex, rich in extracts with the characteristic aromatic wealth of inlaid Satsuma plums, delicate notes of rhubarb, fennel, anise and a hint of chocolate liquor, the oak is seamlessly integrated and hardly noticeable, while the lashed, clear-present Tannin the enormous power and the extract of the wine still emphasizes.

Nice red Bordeaux colour. Aromas of dark chocolate.Acid, fresh, light.
This Penfolds Wines Grange Bin 95 was a very good pairing for the desserts.
We drank the whole bottle at once with friends and a good conversation.

Captivating, alluring red wine in magenta colors. Berry-spicy bouquet of red berries, licorice, anise and pepper. On the palate, very strong, notes of mocha, dark chocolate, dried figs and juicy plums. Aged in new oak balanced with strong tannins. A wine of the century.
