Ceretto Barolo 2015 (Nebbiolo)


  • View: beautiful garnet red with bright flashes of violet.
  • Nose: fascinating in his youth by the aromatic notes but thanks to its refined tannic profile with an enormous aging potential.
  • Mouth: Earthy immediately, based on understory flowers bitter orange and blue. Noble wine, full and deep body.


VINEYARD: Monforte d'Alba.

GRAPES: 100% Nebbiolo.

AGEING: French oak barrels.

PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested manually and once they arrive at the winery is briefly stemmed and scrunch to be carried criomaceration camera. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature and humidity.

WINE PAIRING: Serve with roast, braised lamb, pork or beef.

Barolo Ceretto is made from Nebbiolo grapes coming from the Monsordo Bernardina estate in Barolo. The grapes are manually harvested around the beginning of October and taken to the cellar for de-stemming. No selected yeast are added in order to let indigenous flora to carry out the fermentation with maceration process that occurs in steel containers for about 14-15 days without temperature control. Subsequently, the maceration is continued for another 10-15 days in order to extract aromatic and structure compounds fromNebbiolo skins. Then the wine is separated from the skins and placed in 300 L oak barrels for 12 months and another 12 months in 25 HL barrels. After this period of aeging the wine it is blended and left in steel for another 18 months of aeging before bottling.

The Ceretto Barolo comes from grapes from vineyards suited in the municipalities of La Morra, Barolo and Serralunga, in the province of Cuneo. It is entirely obtained from Nebbiolo grapes fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 14-15 days with maceration in contact with the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels and then for a further 12 months in barrels before being bottled. The Ceretto Barolo has a bright red color with garnet hues. The nose opens with aromas of rose petals, spices and black cherries. The taste gives a strong touch, balanced and round. Perfect combined with structured dishes like lamb loin with roasted potatoes.

For the meal we had, this wasn't the proper wine. I was lucky enough to try it with a client.
It's red with a violet edge. To emphasize on this  the smell of coffee. Strong flavour like strawberry candy.
