Description of Gaja Barbaresco 2016

Gaja Barbaresco 2016 (Nebbiolo)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: Dark red color with some purple violet hues and brightness.
  • Nose: Aromas of forest berries and flowers, with a touch of juniper and licorice. The fund is slightly spicy, with a touch of pepper.
  • Mouth: The step is very elegant, powerful, and characterized by a balance of unique flavors. Variety is special and the finish is long.

APPELLATION: Barbaresco.

VINEYARD: Gaja.

GRAPES: Nebbiolo.

AGEING: in oak barrels.

PREPARATION: The grapes are taken in cash, after being harvested by hand, to bring them quality control. De-stemmed and macerated, all occurring at very cold temperatures. It proceeds to controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at temperatures controlled below 27 ° C. Of course, the ideal is to let it rest in oak barrels. As a coincidence I visited the winery and I bought a few boxes.
Bright cherry colour, high layer. It smelled of oak. Taste of ripe fruit in the mouth.

Intense ruby tone. Aromas of walnuts and hazelnuts. A little too acid although it depends on the taste of each person.
