Description of L'Etoile Banyuls Grand Cru 2006
L'Etoile Banyuls Grand Cru 2006 (Carignan and Grenache)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: copper.
- Nose: Rich and delicately spicy, with aromas of candied fruit smell.
- Mouth: sweet flavor.
APPELLATION: Banyuls.
VINEYARD: Vineyards located in the towns of Port Vendres, Banyuls sur mer, Cerbère & Collioure. Weather is very warm and dry, allowing a good ripening. Detrital soil, shale primary era (Cambrian) and granitizado micaschista.
GRAPES: Grenache Carignan 85% and 15%.
AGEING: aged for at least 30 months old oak tunnels.
PREPARATION: selection of grapes, black tank filled exclusively with Garnacha, receipt of other varieties in a second tank. Shredded and crushed grapes. Fortification grapes followed by maceration for 3 weeks with alcohol. Pressed made by traditional vertical hydraulic presses. Mix 2 tanks after the first winter.
WINE PAIRING: Cheeses and desserts.
TEMPERATURE: 14-16 °C
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 17%
