A fine Veronese wine made with grapes that have previously undergone appassimento, the classic and traditional partial drying (raisining) of grapes in special lofts: after a late harvest, the grapes are partially dried, followed by slow fermentation and skilful, lengthy ageing.

This Amarone della Valpolicella is the excellence Cru Veneta Zonin, located in the homonymous name. It is made with Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara harvested rather late, slightly overripe, and placed in ventilated, dry rooms for drying in plateau for about four months. Then it starts the vinification in red, preceded by a week of pre-maceration of the must peels. The wine, finally, is aged in Slavonian oak barrels for at least two years. Following a further period of six months for the aging in glass. It presents a beautiful garnet-red color with bright reflections. The nose goes wide, with hints of wild berries and prunes, which are well seconded by balsamic notes persistent. In the mouth it comes majestic and incredibly fascinating, with fragrant aromatic notes that make it appreciate even more the flavor. Accompany with great elegance typical dishes of the great traditional dishes, meat noble, high cheese.

Red with violet edges. Aromas of black currant. It was a little too acid for my taste, although I'm aware that taste is a matter of choice.
I had it at a barbecue party.

We bought it at Casa Vinicola Zonin.
At sight, it offered an intense cherry colour. I really appreciated the berry smell. Although I prefer less sweet wines, this one it was good.
