"The 2001 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a joyous wine to taste. This is a fairly restrained style for Amarone. Although the wine reveals limited complexity, it offers superb overall balance and an irresistible, caressing texture on the palate. The perfumed red cherry fruit is remarkably fresh for a wine of this age and the plumpness balances the wine's tannins with notable elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Bertani Amarone Classico 2007
Intense red color, with ruby shadings. They detach to the nose typical notes of plum, cherry and marasca to which it follows a great variety of tones: fruit, spices and liquorice. One opens in mouth with all the fruits to red berry that are repeated for length, sweetened from notes of vanilla on a soft and thick material, in perfect equilibrium with acidity and tannic notes.

- A deep garnet red colour witnesses the long barrel ageing.
- The first impression on the nose is of fresh black cherry aromas, leading into notes of maraschino cherry and plum.
- Immense depth and complexity on the palate: dried fruit, oolong tea, liquorice, spice, red-berry fruits, and a long velvety vanilla note on the finish.
- However, the key to this wine has got to be the sweetness level.
- It is genuinely dry, unlike many modern-style competitors.
