From Almansa, Albacete, comes this signature red wine. With an intense cherry color and bright red tones, Alaya Tierra 2017 is grown in vineyards of sandy limestone soils, at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. We are talking about a monovarietal based on Garnacha tintorera, the only one with violet pulp, which adds color, finesse and elegance to its grapes. All these give a unique character to this red wine, aromatic on the nose with fruity notes - very ripe red and black fruits - minerals and nuances reminiscent of fresh wood. In the glass, it is powerful, dense and ripe with a balanced acidity and silky texture, with an unexpected sweet and long finish.
Bodegas Atalaya, as part of the Juan Gil Bodegas Familiares project, makes this red aged in French and American oak barrels for 15 months. Alaya Tierra 2017 goes well with elaborate and juicy dishes - stewed vegetables, game and poultry, smoked meats, mushrooms, white and red grilled meats, cured and blue cheeses.
Description of Alaya Tierra 2017
Alaya Tierra 2017 (Garnacha tintorera)
- View: Intense cherry color with bright red highlights.
- Nose: Complex aromas of ripe black mixed with mineral notes and a hint of red fruit and wood.
- Mouth: A wine with character from the first sip shows great power and density thanks to their upbringing. When you touch the palate feels a silky texture, showing a balanced acidity. It has a long and very sweet finish.
VINEYARD: Bodegas Atalaya. They are located 3 km from the town of Almansa in Albacete province, southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. Its vineyards have an area of 130 hectares and is located at an altitude between 700 and 1000 meters. They are planted in sandy soils rich in limestone and with exceptional drainage. The climate is continental with an average of very low rainfall. Although the performance of the vines is low, it offers a high quality grape.
GRAPES: Grenache Tintorera. (100%).
AGEING: Aged for 15 months in new French and American oak for barrels.
PREPARATION: The harvest and selection of grapes is manual. The fruits are subjected to prolonged maceration, characteristic of wines, and then continue the fermentation in small stainless steel tanks. Finally the malolactic fermentation process is applied to the barrels where aging.
WINE PAIRING: The perfect companion for seafood, red and white grilled meats, aged cheeses, some varieties of game and poultry.

How to serve
Bodegas Atalaya has 25 ha. vineyards, which are in limestone soils (mainly) and an average elevation of 800 meters. To use native varieties wines of the area: Garnacha and Monastrell shark. They develop and produce 100,000 bottles annually.More about the Winery
