Esporão Reserva 2012 (Aragonêz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Trincadeira)

TASTING NOTES:

Colour: Esporão Reserva 2012 shows a light ruby color.
Nose: intense nose, ripe red fruit aromas and well integrated with the wood noeuf, chocolate, vanilla and spices.
Palate: elegant, ripe fruit and strong tannins but well integrated that give great richness and complexity. The finish is long and persistent.

PAIRING: the perfect accompaniment for dishes with mushrooms, octopus risotto, meat skewers.

CAVE: Herdade do Esporão.

GRAPES: Cabernet Sauvignon, Aragonês, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet.

AGING: fermented in tank and then aged in a mixture of American (70%) and French (30%) oak (33% new, 33% one year old, 33% two years old) for 12 months.

TASTING NOTES:
Deep dark red colour. Intense spicy aroma of mature red berry fruits with discrete oak complexity. Compact, elegant, dense and creamy. Firm tannins offering structure for bottle maturation.
- Winemaker: David Baverstock and Luís Patrão
- Winemaking: Classic wine style made from estate grown grapes that shows the consistency and the rich, ripe fruit characters which are typical of the best Alentejo red wines. Each variety hand picked and vinified separately, fermented in open tanks with robotic plunging and temperature control (22-25ºC), membrane pressed, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Matured for 12 months in 70% American oak and 30% French oak barrels. Following bottling, the wine was aged for 12 months before market release.
